Ranbir Kapoor' Animal joins elite Rs. 200 crore club in three days

If Shah Rukh Khan dominated the show with two releases this year, Ranbir Kapoor is ending 2023 with a bang after his latest movie Animal crossed the magical Rs. 200-crore mark at the Box Office in just three days since releasing on December 1.

Film critic Taran Adarsh posted on X: "#Animal packs a BLOCKBUSTER TOTAL in its opening weekend, despite ‘A’ certification… Fri 54.75 cr, Sat 58.37 cr, Sun 63.46 cr. Total: ₹ 176.58 cr. #Hindi version. Nett BOC. #Boxoffice."

Adarsh said the movie would have put up a stronger show if it had been released solo and not faced competition from Vicky Kaushal's much-awaited release Sam Bahadur.

Kaushal is playing the role of India's first field marshal Sam Manekshaw in the movie based on his life.

"Had #Animal arrived solo, without clash and more screens/shows allotted to it, it would’ve easily challenged/overtaken #Jawan *3-day* numbers," Adarsh wrote.

"#Animal [South Indian languages] Fri 9.05 cr, Sat 8.90 cr, Sun 7.23 cr. Total: ₹ 25.18 cr. Nett BOC. #Boxoffice ALL LANGUAGES TOTAL: ₹ 201.76 cr Nett BOC," the Indian film critic said.

Director Meghna Gulzar's Sam Bahadur, on the other end, earned Rs. 25.55 crores at the Box Office, facing touch competition from Animal.

Adarsh wrote on X: "#SamBahadur stands on its feet, despite a hurricane called #Animal… Riding on glowing word of mouth, the day-wise growth - mainly at key metros - saw the biz witnessing a spike on Day 2 and 3… Fri 6.25 cr, Sat 9 cr, Sun 10.30 cr. Total: ₹ 25.55 cr. #India biz."

Animal is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed and edited by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Pranay Reddy Vanga under T-Series Films, Bhadrakali Pictures and Cine1 Studios. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, alongside Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri.
