Filmmaker Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone in the lead sweeped the box office across India with an earning of INR. 95.3 crore on the first day of its release on Thursday.

On day 2 (Friday), the film grossed INR. 54 crore, reports Sacnilk.

The film has collected INR. 25.65 crore in Telugu, INR. 3.5 crore in Tamil, INR. 22.5 crore in Hindi, INR. 0.35 crore in Kannada and INR. 2 crore in Malayalam.

Kalki had reportedly 65.02% of Telugu occupancy on Friday.

The film also features Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee in the lead.

Its timeline will commence with Indian epic Mahabharata and merge with 2989 AD.

Speaking of the film, Ashwin had said as quoted by News 18, "The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner.

"The film begins 6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed."
