B-town pays homage to martyrs on Kargil Vijay Diwas

Mumbai, July 26 (IBNS): The Bollywood fraternity paid tributes to the 1999 Kargil war martyrs as they posted their messages on social networking sites on Sunday.

Bollywood superstar  Amitabh Bachchan tweeted: "In remembrance of those that sacrifice their lives so we can live in peace and security ..!! JAI HIND."

Singer Lata Mangeshkar said: "Namaskar. Aaj Kargil Vijay Diwas hai. Main Bharat ki sena ko pranam karti hun aur shaheed jawano'n ko vandan (Namaskar. Today, we are observing  Kargil Vijay Diwas. I am saluting the Indian Army will like to pay my homage to the martyrs.)."

Actor Hrithik Roshan posted: "In honor of the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the Kargil War. Proud to be your fellow countrymen. Jai hind!" #KargilVijayDiwas."

Actress Anushka Sharma said: "Deep & solemn respect for all the soldiers who fought & laid down their lives in the Kargil War. Salute from a fauji kid !!"

Actress Preity Zinta tweeted: "Ironic how we celebrate #VijayDiwas when Ex servicemen are still fighting for #onerankonepension ! #heartbreaking."

Actor Vivek Oberoi said: "In nagpur 2participate in a function by young military school cadets saluting our #KargilVijayDiwas heroes! #JaiHind."

Actress Raveena Tandon tweeted: "Salute all brave soldiers who fought,n who lost their lives in Kargil their sacrifice valour,on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas."

India observes Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26.

The Army have prepared extensively to honour the martyrs of the Kargil War of 1999 in a series of solemn ceremonies this year.

The primary event which shall mark the 16th anniversary of the victory is scheduled to be held at Kargil War Memorial held at Drass from July 25 to July 26.

On this day, 26 July 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts which had been lost to Pakistani intruders.
