Preity names witnesses of alleged molestation charge: Reports
The channel reported that "she named the witnesses before leaving for the US" and Mumbai Police is trying to reach the witnesses she named.
According to reports in the channel, no CCTV footage might be available of the incident since there was no CCTV camera inside the corporate box where it allegedly occurred.
Actress and Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta has filed a molestation case against industrialist Ness Wadia, which she claimed was done to protect herself rather than hurting anyone.
Denying her allegations, Ness Wadia said he was "shocked" and termed them as "false and baseless".
Preity Zinta also issued a statement on Saturday saying she has no intention to hurt anyone but wants to protect herself.
"This is a very difficult time for me and I would like to request the media to please respect my privacy regarding this matter. My intention is not to harm any one but only to protect myself," Preity said in her statement, which is available with the media.
The actress filed the complaint on Thursday night.
The police has registered a case under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said the investigation is going on and the police will record statements of the witnesses.
The Mumbai Police has asked Wankhede Stadium for the relevant CCTV footage.
There are over 172 cameras in the stadium.
In her statement to the police, Preity has alleged that she was molested during the IPL qualifier for the final between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on May 30.
The actress alleged that Wadia outraged her modesty and abused as well as threatened her.
She reportedly said that during the match, while in the Garware Pavilion, Wadia came up to her, grabbed her by the hand and started using abusive words in front of other spectators.
Preity and Ness are co-owners of the IPL team-Kings XI Punjab.
The actress dated the Bombay Dyeing heir from February 2005 until May 2009.
Their relationship was often reported on by the media, with frequent speculation about an engagement or a break-up.
