India Blooms News Service | | 27 Dec 2015, 10:54 am
Mumbai, Dec 27 (IBNS): Bollywood's most eligible bachelor Salman Khan, who is in a record spree of delivering hits, turned 50 on Sunday.
According to TOI reports, the actor will host an intimate gathering for close friends and family at his Panvel farmhouse.

If reports are to be believed, in order to make his 50th birthday even more special, Yash Raj Films have decided to release the second teaser of 'Sultan', their upcoming film on Sunday.

Netizens started celebrating the superstar's birthday from a Saturday itself with a hastag '#HappyBirthdaySalmanKhan' trending at the top of Twitter.

On Sunday, even a hastag "BEING HUMAN DAY' is trending top on the networking site.

This is ought to be one of the best years for Salman who delivered two back to back smashing hits at the box-office with his performance in  'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan'.

The much-talked about ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ , which released on Eid, kept beating all records and turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year.

Salman was back again in Diwali, uniting with  Sooraj Barjatya and the  Rajshri Productions, to deliver another hit of the year- Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.

In his personal life, the actor received a relief when he was acquitted by the Bombay High Court in December of all criminal charges that he had been held guilty of by a trial court in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case.

Besides his fans, celebrities from the film fraternity as well as sports wished the actor on Twitter.

Actress Dia Mirza tweeted: "Happy happy happy birthday @BeingSalmanKhan #ForeverYoung love always."

Badminton star Saina Nehwal posted: "@BeingSalmanKhan A very happy 50 th birthday to u sir."

Salman, who made fictional characters of Chulbul Pandey and Lovely Singh (among others) almost come alive, started his career with 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' but it was his second film as 'Maine Pyar Kiya' in which he acted in a lead role, garnered him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.

Though his career plunged after Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Salman hit the headlines often for other reasons be it his high profile relations with other actresses or for his enfant terrible image.

It all changed for him in 2009 with the release of Wanted. The film raked up the goods and Salman, the Money Spinner was unleashed.

With subsequent releases like Daabang, Ready, Bodyguard, Ek Tha Tiger, Bajrangi Bhaijaan among others, Salman became a force to reckon with as his movies created and broke new records.

Besides acting, he is also philanthropist and started an NGO Being Human Foundation, which is a registered charitable trust, for helping the cause of the underprivileged.

His brand 'Being Human' sells T-shirts and other products online and in stores, from which a portion of the sales go to the cause of supporting the underprivileged.

The actor is presently hosting the latest season of popular reality show 'Bigg Boss.'
