Kolkata, May 21 (IBNS) Actress Lisa Ray, who will be seen next in the role of a spy in the upcoming Bollywood movie Veerappan, said she is proud to be a Bengali.

Lisa, who was in Kolkata on Friday to promote her new film along with director Ram Gopal Verma, said, "I am a very proud Bengali. My ancestral home is in Shyambazar. I have spent a lot of time in Kolkata."

The actress, who juggles her time between Canada and India, said that she was happy to make a trip back.

Lisa also appeared shy when asked about her toe following reports that she injured herself while shooting for the film.

Downplaying the incident, Ray said, "My toe is making headlines for some reasons and it's unfair. RGV and the other actors actually spent time in the forests and had to endure the harsh weather and multiple scratches."

She also said that her life changed post cancer.

"I believe I'm living a much fuller life now," said the actress who was once known as the Evita girl for her modelling for the soap brand in the 1990s besides being known for her debut as the face of the Bombay Dyeing ad.

Veerappan is slated for a May 27, 2016 release.
