Rajeev Khandelwal promotes "Samrat & Co."
Kolkata, Apr 16 (IBNS): Actor Rajeev Khandelwal is on his "Samrat & Co." promotion spree.
He is hopping from city to city, promoting their upcoming film and on Tuesday visited the City of Joy, Kolkata and was seen at a press conference for the promotion of his movie "Samrat & Co." by Kaushik Ghatak held at INOX, South City Mall.
Addressing the media, Khandelwal said, “We are glad to come to Kolkata and extremely happy to meet our lovely fans all over the City of Joy. We hope that people would love it when it hits the big screen on this 25th April, 2014.”
Specially targeting India's young audiences, "Samrat And Co." is a detective franchisee, wherein the very nuances of crime solving, human nature and the world of standalone private investigators will be presented on the big screen on a pure entertainment platform.
The first look of the film shows Rajeev Khandelwal sitting on a chair with an angry young man look.
Khandelwal said he wants to do films that leave a mark.
“The films that I want to do should be a path-breaking cinema. It should be something new to offer to the audience,” he said.
“People tell me you are on the right path and stick to that. That's a huge compliment for me. I don't want to do films with the budget of Rs.50 or Rs.100 crore. I want to be focused,” he added.
The 38-year-old actor has teamed up with Kaushik for the first time and he feels proud that the director chose him for this project. "I am happy I am part of a Rajshri film which is a different film. I am proud that I was considered for this film. I was shocked when I was approached by Rajshri. When I was told it's a detective film, I was shocked. They are changing the trend with the right script," he said.
Strange as it may sound, when the director of the upcoming detective thriller ‘'Samrat & Co.'’ narrated Khandelwal the script, he did not narrate the entire script, but did it only till the climax scene.
The director told Khandelwal that he would tell him the climax only if he came on board.
Once Khandelwal agreed to do the film, Kaushik kept his promise of narrating the climax to him, but, to his surprise, Khandelwal did not want to hear it and requested him not to.
Telling his reasons for doing that, Khandelwal said, "The script had been so gripping that I decided to play Samrat in my head, trying to actually solve the case while shooting the film. But all my guesses were wrong and I couldn't guess the right climax.
"Finally, even when we shot the climax, only those involved in the scene really knew it. The rest of the cast will see it with the audience when the film releases."
