Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor turns 62

Mumbai, Sept 4 (IBNS): Yesteryear romantic hero Rishi Kapoor, whose onscreen charisma never fails to charm his audience, turned 62 years of age on Thursday.

Kapoor, who is also a film producer and director, continues to cast his spell on his fans even today.

The actor, who hails from a filmy background, is the son of legendary Bollywood star Raj Rapoor and brother of actors Randhir Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor.

He made his debut on the silver screen as a child artist in ‘Mera Naam Joker’, where his father played the lead role.

The actor’s first venture as a hero was ‘Bobby’ with Dimple Kapadia, which became a major hit.

He starred in films like ‘Karz’, ‘Prem Rog’, ‘Coolie’, ‘Saagar’, ‘Nagina’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Henna’, ‘Bol Radha Bol’, ‘Deewana’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Namaste London’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and ‘Patiala House’.

Kapoor won a National Film Award in the category of Best Child Artist for ‘Mera Naam Joker’, and a Filmfare award for ‘Bobby’.

The actor’s pairing with his wife Neetu Singh Kapoor has always been admired.

The couple together was seen in superhit films like ‘Khel Khel Mein’, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Doosra Aadmi’.

While he has a successful legacy of romancing his leading ladies on screen, the actor now experiments with different kinds of roles and has commanded equal successes in the same.

Some of his recent successful films include 'Student of The Year’, 'Agneepath', 'Houseful 2', 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', 'D-Day', 'Shuddh Desi Romance' and 'Besharam', where he will starred alongside his son Ranbir Kapoor and wife Neetu Singh Kapoor.

He will was also seen in veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai's 'Kaanchi'.
