Mumbai, Sept 7 (IBNS): Priyanka Chopra starrer 'Mary Kom', which was released on Friday, collected Rs. 8.5 crore on the opening day, media reports said.
"'Mary Kom' accumulated a 60 per cent occupancy rate on the opening say. With the film being a solo Bollywood release with relatively no competition from other Hollywood releases, coupled with the fact that the audience has been eagerly awaiting the film's release and that the movie is based on one of India's leading sports personalities, 'Mary Kom' seems all set to dominate the box office over this weekend," The Financial Express reported.

Meanwhile, the makers are trying to release the film in Manipur, where the biopic could not be screened in any theatres due to a ban by insurgency outfits.

‘Mary Kom’, is about the Indian Boxer and Olympic Bronze medalist MC Mary Kom, her life, struggles, family and her perseverance to be the best.

‘Mary Kom’ is directed by Omung Kumar, and produced is by Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Bhansali Productions.
