Censor Board rejects bra scene of Katrina starrer Baar Baar Dekho

Mumbai, Aug 29 (IBNS): After the row over Udta Punjab, the Censor Board has once again paved way for controversy with its recommendation of editing some scenes of upcoming film 'Baar Baar Dekho' starring Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif.

After giving the film U/A certification, the Censor Broad has directed the makers to edit a scene showing a bra and a reference to the pornographic cartoon character Savita Bhabhi.

A report in Bollywood Hungama quoted a member of the Baar Baar Dekho team as saying, "Are we living in the Victorian era when women's innerwear was never spoken of in public? Years ago in 1995 there was a bra shot featuring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan. And Baar Baar Dekho is directed by a woman. So the chances of lingerie being used to titillate the audience are nil."

The decision by the Censor Board has received flak with netizens who took the issue to Twitter and have slammed the move.

One Gargee Roy Chowdhury tweeted: "If only censor board could say "bra mat dekho and pehno bhi mat" that would be actual relief to women! #Censorship #BaarBaarDekho."

Another Abdulla Madumoole posted: "Director says: 'Bar Bar Dekho' Censor Board says : 'Bra mat dikhao'.

The film will see actors Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif pairing up together for the first time onscreen.

Produced by Excel Entertainment and Dharma Productions, directed by Nitya Mehra, 'Baar Baar Dekho' will hit theatres on Sept 9.
