Mumbai, Sept 16 (IBNS): With Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif being reportedly selected to be given the Smita Patil Memorial Award for her contribution to cinema, Twitter world seems to have not accepted the decision quite easily.

Twitter has slammed the decision taken by the NGO Priyadarshini Academy who conduct these awards.

Twitter users even started trolling the actress whose last release on the big screen was 'Baar Baar Dekho' with Sidharth Malhotra.

The award was earlier received by noted Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone.

One Shakti Shetty tweeted: "Katrina Kaif is as wooden as they come but just for outrage's sake, do you know who won the Smita Patil Memorial Award before her? Exactly."

Another Thakur Baldev Singh posted: "500 year old Mummies gives more expressions on their faces than Katrina Kaif."

Twitter user Aria wrote: "Meanwhile Katrina Kaif must be 'googling' who was Smita Patil for she doesn't even know a b s of acting."

One Rasheed Kappan posted: "Well, look at it this way: Smita Patil award mite spur Katrina 2 better acting. Same logic applied when Obama was awarded Nobel Peace Prize!"

Another Twitter user Mansi commented,"#KatrinaKaif to receive the #SmitaPatil Memorial Award. And then you blame Indians for being intolerant."

Late actress Smita Patil had won immense praises for her performances in multiple films like  Bhumika and Arth.
