There is no distortion of history: Deepika tweets after attack on Padmavati set

Mumbai, Jan 28 (IBNS): A day after a group of people attacked filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and disrupted shooting of his upcoming movie Padmavati in Rajasthan, actress Deepika Padukone on Saturday broke her silence and said history has not been distorted by the makers of the period film.

"As Padmavati I can assure you that there is absolutely no distortion of history.#Padmavati," the actress tweeted.

She said the attack incident has saddened her.

"In a state of shock!deeply saddened and disheartened by yesterday's events!#Padmavati," Deepika tweeted.

"Our only endeavour is & has always been to share with the world the story of this courageous & powerful woman in the purest form there is.," she said.

The attack was reportedly carried out by a group who called themselves  the Rajput Karni Sena.

Padmavati is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

The film features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in leading roles.
