Begum Jaan opens strong at the box office, claim makers

Mumbai, April 15 (IBNS): Begum Jaan with a strategic release in 1090 screens in total, has made 3.94 crores on its opening day at the box office, claimed the publicists of the film.

A release said the A-rated film has held its own despite other strong releases like the Punjabi movie, Manje Bistre starring  Gippy Grewal and the popular worldwide franchise The Fate of the Furious.

National  Award winning director Srijit Mukherji’s made the film in Hindi version after the success of the Bengali.

Vidya Balan plays a strict brothel owner ready to take down those who have wronged her.

"She effortlessly slips into her character hurling expletives and simultaneously showcasing affection towards her women. Chunk Pandey’s villainous avatar of Kabir gives us a break from his comical escapades, while Gauahar and Pallavi’s performances are noteworthy! The performances of each cast member are being hailed by the audiences all over!" said the release.
