Mumbai, July 24 (IBNS): Months after the episode around singer Sonu Nigam came to an end, now actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi triggered a controversy with her remarks on 'azaan'.

She expressed her annoyance over azan's being played over loudspeaker that was as per her 'ear shattering' and 'aggressive'.

The actress tweeted: "Came home at 4.45 am 2 most aggressive/ ear shattering call of azaan. Nothing more lowlife & dumb than such extreme imposed religiousity."

Reacting to her tweet, one netizen Archana Sharma posted: "Don't invite troubles ma'am...Sonu Nigam ji had to quit Twitter because of same observation. Ppl u think r with u won't speak a single word."

Suchitra was quick in saying: Well the azaan seems to have gotten louder since his tweet. Its ridiculous. He tweeted from same location as me."

She said: "I wake up at Brahmamuhurt of my own accord & do my prayers & riyaz.& yoga. I dont need public loudspeakers to remind me of my God or my duty."

The actress said: "Nobody objects to azaan or prayers during decent hours. But to be wakung up entire neighbourhood at 5 am is not civilized."

Sonu Nigam  with a series of tweets recently sparked a controversy when he said he hated being woken up in morning by the sound of azaan calling it "forced religiousness" since he is not a Muslim.

"God bless everyone. I'm not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India," he asked in his tweet which triggered a huge online reaction.

Suchitra had worked in Bollywood movie Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.

It featured Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.
