Chennai, Jun 7 (IBNS): Although the release of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth's film Kaala stumbled in Karnataka, it is the first Indian film to be released in Saudi Arabia, according to a tweet by Wunderbar Films.

Tweeted Wunderbar Films, the production house owned by actor Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya, "This is HUGE! #Kaala is the FIRST ever Indian film to be released in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia!"

In Karnataka several pro-Kannada groups have  opposed the release of the film owing to the actor's comment on Cauvery river water row, media reports said.

With an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth, Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi and Easwari Rao among others. the film  -- a gangster movie set in the backdrop of Mumbai's Dharavi -- was produced on a budget of Rs 140 crore, according to media reports.
