15th edition of Kashish Queer Film Festival to celebrate Pride in all its colours, opens for submissions
The erstwhile Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, South Asia’s biggest LGBTQ+ film festival, has officially changed its name to ‘Kashish Pride Film Festival’ and will celebrate its 15th edition from June 5-9th 2024 at Liberty Cinema in Mumbai.
Speaking about the name change, Sridhar Rangayan, founder and festival director said, “The festival started in 2010 when the LGBTQ+ community was just emerging out of the shadows. Over the past 15 years, the community has evolved and has found a lot more acceptance in the society. Kashish has been part of this change, and possibly even instrumental in bringing about a change in mindset."
“Now it is time for the community to move to occupy centerstage in the society with pride, and that’s reflected in our festival’s name change," he said.
Saagar Gupta, director of programming, said, “Pride as an expression is as much of an individual, as it is of a community and society. This year’s theme ‘Unfurl Your Pride’ will resonate with great excitement, during the 15th year of the festival, which is set to take place at multiple venues in the city."
Kashish 2024 festival theme ‘Unfurl Your Pride’ invites everyone to unfurl their vision of what pride means to them, whether they are from the LGBTQ+ community, or their extended families of parents, friends, colleagues, and allies.
Film submissions are open on FilmFreeway and more details can be viewed at https://mumbaiqueerfest.com/
