British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson formally offered to play James Bond in next film, claims report
There has been speculation about who will play the next James Bond onscreen for quite some time now and several major names have emerged over the years as Daniel Craig's replacement.
However, fans are still waiting as the final name has not been revealed so far.
Meanwhile, a British tabloid has reported that actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson was offered the task of playing the iconic spy recently.
Insiders told The Sun the Kick-Ass movie star is expected to accept the role as 007, taking over from Daniel Craig, who has played MI6’s most famous spy for 15 years.
Craig played the character for five movies.
He was last seen playing James Bond in 2021-released movie No Time to Die.
A source told the tabloid: “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back.
“As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement," the source said.
The next Bond movie has been reportedly delayed due to the Hollywood strike last year.
But insiders confirmed to The Sun that a script was now being worked on, with production scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Apart from Aaron, other actors whose names have emerged for the role are Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill and James Norton.
Who is Aaron?
British actor Aaron is best known for his portrayal of the title character in Kick-Ass (2010) and its 2013 sequel, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe character Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
