Eagles legend Glenn Frey passes away

California, Jan 19 (IBNS) A founding member of the Eagles band Glenn Frey has passed away on Monday.

He died in 67.

"It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of husband, best friend, father, comrade, and Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide," read the band's website.

Musicians have mourned the death of Frey.

Singer Carole King tweeted: "R.I. P. Glenn Frey. Deepest condolences to his family and #Eagles."

Singer Travis Tritt posted: "I'm so shocked and saddened to learn that Glenn Frey has died. He was always so nice to me. This is devastating!"

Singer Sheryl Crow tweeted: "Glenn Frey, you will be sorely missed. Thank you for all you gave us."

Singer Huey Lewis  posted on his Twitter account: "Glenn Frey. I’m shocked. A brilliant songwriter and a really good guy. Talented, funny, cynical and sweet. - Huey."

Born on Nov 6, 1948 in Michigan, Frey was one of the primary singers of the Eagles, he sang lead vocals on songs such as "Take It Easy", "Peaceful Easy Feeling", "Tequila Sunrise", "Already Gone", "Lyin' Eyes", "New Kid in Town", and "Heartache Tonight".

As a member of the Eagles, Frey won six Grammy Awards, and five American Music Awards. The Eagles were inducted into theRock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, the first year they were nominated.

As a solo artist and with the Eagles combined, Frey released 24 Top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
