UK's Bengal Heritage Foundation recently hosted a special screening of Indian filmmaker Krishnendu Bose's documentary ‘Bay of Blood’ in London on December 15, ahead of the anniversary of the Bangladesh Liberation War.

It highlighted the untold suffering and resilience of millions of people over a nine-month period from March to December 1971.

The screening was held close to the 52nd anniversary of “Bijoy Dibosh”, or Liberation of Bangladesh Day, which is observed on December 16.

“The film projected the strong sense of the power of an idea – no amount of violence, no amount of oppression can actually kill that,” Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami after the special screening at Leicester Square was quoted as saying by Asian Lite.

The screening of the documentary was held at the iconic Vue, Leicester Square.

"The event sought to showcase the enduring bonds of kinship forged during the war, paying tribute to the extraordinary sacrifices made by the common people in defence of their language and identity," the Bengal Heritage Foundation posted on Facebook.

"The presence of esteemed dignitaries, including the High Commissioners of India and Bangladesh, Vikram Doraiswami and Saeda Muna Tasneem, added a significant touch to the evening, emphasizing the deep and unbreakable partnership between the two nations on the eve of the 52nd Anniversary of 'Bijoy Dibosh,' the Liberation of Bangladesh (December 16)," the post said.
