'Feluda' trapped in legal battle as SVF slaps Eskay-Zee Entertainment with 'copyright infringement' charge

Kolkata/IBNS: The iconic Bengali detective media franchise, 'Feluda', is caught in a legal battle with SVF slapping Eskay Vodeo Private Limited and Zee Entertainment with the charge of "copyright infringement".

SVF moved a commercial court in Alipore here challenging the production of a 'Feluda' series by Zee Entertainment on its digital platform.

SVF has got an injunction against producer Ashok Dhanuka, Eskay Video Private Limited and Zee Entertainment till Jan 5, 2022.

Commercial Court Alipore division has passed an injunction restraining producer Ashok Dhanuka, Eskay Video Private Limited and broadcaster Zee Entertainment from producing and/or releasing any show based on the stories of fictional character, Feluda.

SVF claims that it holds exclusive rights to Feluda stories by way of an assignment agreement for valuable consideration.

Feluda is a famous Bengali detective fictional character created  by renowned author and Oscar Award winning film director late Satyajit Ray through several stories written by him. 

No one directly associated with either of the two parties has responded to the development publicly yet.
