Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood superstar Jeet unveiled the trailer of Tathagata Mukherjee's Bengali film Pariah at a city restaurant on Tuesday.

The film revolves around a man, whose unconditional love for stray dogs leads him to protect them, often turning violent.

Vikram undergoes physical transformation for the film, which is packed with action.

"It was not easy to shoot an action film, which is very rare in contemporary Bengali cinema. There were some technical challenges. I was fortunate to have a fully prepared team with Tathagata (Tathagata Mukherjee, director) leading from the front," said Vikram.

He added, "The whole team including Tathagata, who was the captain of the ship, have made contributions in pulling off an action film like Pariah in such a limited number of days."

Praising Vikram, Jeet, a senior Bengali actor known for his mass entertaining and action films, said, "Vikram (Vikram Chatterjee) has worked on his body. It is evident. I am aware of the strict regime one has to go through to make this kind of a body."

"He (Vikram Chatterjee) had discussed it with me earlier and took classes from stunt masters. So he has put in a lot of effort, which I am sure will be reflected on screen," the superstar, who was present at the event to support the team, added.

The film will depict the life of Pariah, his background, his loneliness, his highs and lows and eventually his journey towards becoming a messiah for the pariah dogs.

Actress Angana Roy, who is known for her roles in web series Shei Je Holud Pakhi and Srikanto, also plays a lead in the film.

Speaking at the trailer launch, Angana says, "We had rehearsed for a month during which we actors had prepared. A month prior to the commencement of shooting, we used to rehearse four-five hours daily.

"I had to learn how to ride a scooty. Though I was injured, it was a new skill I learnt."

Among other actors who play significant roles in the film are Soumya Mukherjee, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Sreelekha Mitra.

Speaking of his film, director Tathagata Mukherjee says, Pariah tells a story of rebellion. Pariah means outcast. Indian stray dogs are called Pariah... Our viewers will see Vikram in an action film for the first time."

Pariah will hit the theatres on February 9.
