Koel, a hugely popular film star in Bengal, had essayed Mitin, a popular woman detective created by novelist Suchitra Bhattacharya, on the big screens even in the past.
Jongole Mitin Mashi, the second installment of the Mitin Mashi franchise, starring Koel was released last year.
All the three installments including the upcoming are directed by Arindam Sil.
Wishing Koel a speedy recovery, Sil wrote on X, "You are such a brave woman Koel. Still can’t believe how it happened last evening. So freak. And you were at your best performance. Please do take care of yourself.
"The whole team of our film is praying for your speediest recovery. We are waiting for you to be back on the floor."
