Kolkata/IBNS: National Award winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose on Wednesday launched the poster of filmmaker Ashoke Viswanathan's upcoming Bengali film, Hemanter Aparanha, at ICCR Kolkata.

The film, which stars Anusha Viswanathan and Rwitobroto Mukherjee in the lead, is a dynamic and dramatic visual exploration of the tensions of life during the Covid-19 pandemic and also of the atmosphere in a world stirred and shaken by the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Speaking at the event, Ghose said, "The film is a testament of an era. It's very symbolic at times. I hope the audience will love it. I think people should watch this kind of film."

The film, which marks Ashoke Viswanathan's return into direction, blends theatre and film. It captures behind the scenes of the theatre world and showcases artists' struggles.

Anxiety and depression, which are seldom discussed in society, have also been dealt with in the film.

Sharing her experience of working in the film directed by her father Ashoke Viswanathan, Anusha tells IBNS, "I could relate to the film because I belong to the acting fraternity."

"Lights have been played out in a spectacular way in the film. Theatre lights within a film turn out to be even more beautiful. I could feel drenched in the light. I could feel alive. It was a nice experience," she adds.

The music is composed by Gourab Chatterjee with songs by Lokhichara. Cinematography is by Joydeep Bhowmick and editing is by National Award winner Arghyakamal Mitra.

Hemanter Aparanha is produced by Amit Agarwal and Ashoke Viswanathan on behalf of Adarsh Telemedia and AV Productions.

"I feel extremely fortunate to act in Ashoke Viswanathan's film. His films always give birth to new thoughts to people who look at cinema as something beyond entertainment," said Rwitobroto.

Apart from Anusha and Rwitobroto, the film features Satyapriya Mukhopadhyay and Bidipta Chakraborty in distinct roles.

The film, which was screened at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) last year, will be released in June.
