Dev, Jeet, Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan among top Tollywood celebs to cast votes in Lok Sabha polls

Kolkata/IBNS: Tollywood leading stars Dev, Jeet, Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan were among the Bengali film personalities who cast their votes in their respective constituencies in Kolkata, which went to polls in the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.

Dev, an outgoing two-term TMC Lok Sabha MP seeking a re-election, went to a school in South Kolkata.

Jeet went to cast his vote with his wife, Mohna Madnani. The superstar, who is waiting for the release of his film Boomerang this month, sported a cap, sunglasses and a white designed half-shirt amid the scorching heat.

Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, a star campaigner for the BJP, cast his vote early in the morning at Belgachia Veterinary College in North Kolkata.

Tollywood actress Mimi Chakraborty, a former TMC MP who served the Jadavpur constituency from 2019 to 2024, visited the Sarda Academy School in Kasba along with her mother to cast her vote at around 1 pm.

Actress and former TMC MP from Basirhat, Nusrat Jahan, went to Abdul Wahid Memorial School in Broad Street, Ballygunge, to cast her vote at 11 am.

Dressed in a kurta, Nusrat flashed her inked finger as she came out of the polling booth.

Senior Bengali actress Koel Mallick, who was accompanied by her father- veteran actor Ranjit Mallick-  and mother Deepa Mallick, cast her vote and said, "It is our responsibility to cast votes. I pray all people stay well and busy at work.

"I keep hearing about brain drain, I hope there will be a day when people from other states will come here for work. If this happens, the economy will improve and poverty will be driven out."

Raima Sen, who was joined by her parents to a school in Ballygunge to cast her mandate, shared "a safe democracy", "end of violence" and "more education and jobs for people" were the issues which she kept in her mind.

Among other celebrities who cast their votes were filmmaker Raj Chakraborty and his wife, actress Subhashree Ganguly, filmmaker Arindam Sil, actresses Paoli Dam, Srabanti Chatterjee, Sauraseni Maitra, Rukmini Maitra, Sandipta Sen, Angana Roy among others.

West Bengal went to polls in all seven phases of elections that began on April 19.  The results of the elections will be declared on June 4.
