Kolkata/IBNS: Online streaming platform Hoichoi has unveiled the teaser of upcoming web series, Talmar Romeo Juliet, which is an adaptation of William Shakespeare's iconic play Romeo and Juliet.

The series marks the debut of Hiya Roy and Debdutta Raha, who play the protagonists. Hiya and Debdutta play roles modelled after Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

The teaser shows a 'hero' and a 'heroine' in love and a lot of villains, actor Anirban Bhattacharya being one of them.

The series is directed by Arpan Garai and written by Durbar Sharma. Besides acting, Anirban worked as the creative director of the series.

In addition to the newcomers and Anirban, Talmar Romeo Juliet features Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Joydeep Mukherjee, Payel De, and Anujoy Chattopadhyay.

Speaking of the project, Anirban said, "The day I heard the script of Talmar Romeo Juliet from Durbar Sharma and Arpan Gharai, I was taken aback. I knew it in my bones that this was going to be a grand show - the grandest show in this industry perhaps.

"As there has been no other Hoichoi World Classics since Mandaar, I felt this Shakespearean tragedy would (based on Romeo Juliet) fit the bill perfectly. On the other hand, Durbar, the writer, kept the dialect of Jalpaiguri, where the story is set, in mind and upheld the originality of the show."

The series will start streaming on Hoichoi in November.
