Kolkata, Oct 20 (IBNS) Bengali superstar Dev, whose last few releases did not set the box office on fire, is too upbeat about the response to Sudhu Tomari Jonyo where he shares screen space with Srabanti Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty and Soham Chakraborty in the lead roles.

"You will find a new Birsa (dasgupta) here who had never done this masala genre of films in past. He has tried in the new form of romantic comedy with actions, and he succeeded," the actor said.

Dev, who feels releasing 5 films simultaneously this puja shows how the old movie watching saga by Bengali audiences during puja is making a come back.

"It augurs well for the industry. And on personal level I will wish all the five films - Sudhu Tomari Janyo, Cross Connection 2, Bomkesh, Rajkahini and Katmundu does well. But I want Sudhu Tomari Jonyo is preferred by my fans and others and others may follow," Dev said.

Director Raj Chakortborty, whose Katmundu got released in the same time starring a host of Bengali stars, said "I don't understand the categories of realistic and mainstream gharana. All of us are working together to promote the cause of Tollywood.

"I am doing. Birsa is doing. We all are equally good," Raj said.

Actor Soham said, Birsa has broken out from his own prototype and imbibed the new mainstream film making style. "It can only be gain for the Bengali film industry."

Director Srijit Mukherjee, having directed Rajkahini by the same production house, quipped, "Good luck to the films including romantic comedy this puja. But let Rajkahini, a different genre film, run the most."

Sudhu Tomari Janyo, produced by Shree Venkatesh Films was extensively shot in north Kolkata.
