I am more enjoying the spiritual side during performance: Bickram Ghosh
Kolkata, Jan 8 (IBNS) Celebrated percussionist Pt Bickram Ghosh says he is realising spirituality more than ever during performance these days.
Asked the reason behind him looking so self-possessed as a drummer raising crescendo, Bickram Ghosh, who was talking to IBNS backstage after performing at a duet in Chowdhury House Music Conference here recently, said: "I am more and more realising the spiritual fervour within us as I perform on stage."
"I seek to bring identification with my composition in every presentation of mine, in every live show," he explained.
Bickram, whose recent duet collaboration with Sonu Nigam created ripples, pointed out how big factor is an audience for a performer on stage.
That was enhanced by the conducive atmosphere in the auditorium for a classical show including acoustics and discerning audience for the audience-artiste connect, he pointed out.
Bickram, who thanked for prayers for the speedy recovery of farther Pt Shankar Ghosh, said he had got the 'talim'' to be self-absorbed during performance from his mentor-father.
He called upon the Generation Next to give classical music a chance, and not be swayed by present day 'trivial' beats of certain genre of songs only'.
The four day conference beginning on Jan 1, comprising the who's who of Kolkata's art circuit and instituted by Calcutta Performing Arts Foundation, also witnessed performance of Pt Tanmoy Bose, Deb Shankar (violin) Partha Sarathi Chatterjee (sitar) among others .
