Veteran Tollywood filmmaker Aravind Mukherjee passes away

Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS):Bengali film director Aravind Mukherjee passed away at his own residence in Kolkata's Tollygunge area on Wednesday.

The 96-year-old filmmaker was suffering from several diseases for years and died at around 8:45 am due to old age problems, his son Swarbajit Mukherjee told IBNS.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolence through her Twitter account and said: "Saddened to hear veteran director Arvind Mukherjee passed away. We will remember him through his films. Condolences to his family and friends."

Aravind Mukherjee worked with several famous actors including Uttam Kumar, Jaya Bhaduri Bachhan, Ranjit Mullick, Geeta Dey and many others. Some of his famous films are- Nutan Jibon (1966), Dhanyee Meye (1971), Mouchak (1974) and Agnishwar (1975).
