No regrets on National Award, biggest appreciation comes from my audience : Prosenjit

Kolkata, Apr 17 (IBNS) With a string of releases this year, from Srijit Mukherjee's Zulfiqar to Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay-Nandita Roy's Praktan, Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee says he was lucky to get the love and appreciation of people even though a National Award may still elude him.
Basking in the adulation of the audience for his portrayal of a humble mofussil school teacher, and how he yearns the borders would cease to exist one day in Best Bengali film winner Sankhachil, Prosenjit says he never regrets for not being adjudged for National Award as Best Actor.

"If a legend like Soumitra Chatterjee after such a long, illustrious innings with all leading directors can get the National Award only after Podokhep (by Suman Ghosh), then people like us should not bother at all. From 'Moner Manush' to 'Jatiswar' it never happened, Not in Sankhachil as well, But look how people are reacting to my roles, So will continue to concentrate on my work, not on national awards," Prosenjit tells IBNS on the sidelines of the premiere of Sankhachil here on Friday.

Happy that Sankhachil, produced by him, Mou Roychowdhury, Habibur Rahman Khan, Faridur Reza Sagar, is going houseful on both sides of border, Prosenjit says.

Many have said that it is his best performance till date and Prosenjit says that is more satisfying for an actor who only believes in putting his soul into acting.

Prosenjit, who is doing Zulfiqar, Praktan and Kamaleswar Mukherjee's yet unnamed film as future projects, rate all three as important milestones in his career. As well as Mahanayak on the small screen, on the life of matinee idol Uttam Kumar.

"All these roles keep me ticking," he says.
