Kolkata, Mar 25 (IBNS): Chartered accountant-turned small screen lead star of upcoming serial 'Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee', Tina Ann Philip, says she is open to any character with scope for acting, big or small, after her debut role.

"Yes from charted accountant to acting, it is an altogether different ball game. But I had wanted to become an actor, which is unprecedented in our family that is very conservative. All my cousins are from IIT or IIM," Tina told IBNS during a promotional tour for the serial, to be aired on a national channel from next month.

Tina, whose family was based in London, said she wanted to remain in the world of showbiz and for her a role matters more, the size of it does not.

"Even if there are offer from web series, I am okay for that but there has to be quality in content and brand like my debut one," she said.

A significant part of the serial is being shot in Kolkata as Tina's character has strong connections with the city.

"I was mistaken as a Bengali during auditions due to my physical features and perhaps after London, Kolkata can be called my another home...more after this soap is aired," Tina explained adding the series was shot at Howrah Bridge, Ganga river Ghat and other iconic locations in the city.

Joining Tina is Kanwar Dhillion as ‘Shiv’, the male protagonists of the soap.

Tina said about her role, "I enact a selfless girl who believes in essential goodness in humanity, who loves children and feeds people living on footpath."

"The serial on Star Plus has idelogy as USP. The ideology is by doing good things you come closer to God. I feel really connected to the role," she said.

About her shooting experience, Tina said, "We had a lot of fun in Manali as also in Kolkata. In Kolkata I had tasted new fish and relished Kshirkadam sweet," she said.

"You should eat fulfillingly and shed the calorie by jogging. I work out for every two hours in the morning," she adds.

Producer Dheeraj Sarna said, "Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee is the story of a girl who believes that the true meaning of faith is to help the needy and that’s the only way of reaching salvation. Aastha’s character has been on my mind for very long and I have been working to get just the right characteristics and nuances in place."

Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee will be telecast from Apr 3, Monday to Saturday, 1:30 pm.

Known faces in TV, Vivek Mushran and Mansi Salvi are also part of the 'Ek Aastha Aisi Bhee' cast.
