KASHISH 2021 KASHISH 2021 to virtually screen 39 LGBTQIA+ films from Asia
Mumbai/IBNS: Celebrating its position as South Asia’s biggest LGBTQIA+ film festival, in its 12th edition, KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival has turned the spotlight on LGBTQIA+ films from Asia selecting 39 films from countries like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Iran, Lebanon, Turkey and Indonesia.
There are 3 narrative feature films - ANOTHER SELF (Iran), LOVE, SPELLS AND ALL THAT (Turkey) and BRIHONNOLA (India); and two documentary feature films from India – ADMITTED and MOHINI – MEN IN SAREES. Rest are narrative and documentary short films.
“These films not only highlight the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community due to the legal and social discrimination, but also offer portraits of joy and happiness that the queer people manage to find against all odds. These films not only mirror realities, but also celebrate the human spirit," said Saagar Gupta, director of programming.
KASHISH 2021 will take place online from August 19th to September 5th over three weekends. Registrations are open for full-festival pass and weekend passes for both Indian audiences and International audiences. This year too the festival is open to audiences across the word!
