Las Vegas, May 15 (IBNS): Celebrities joined to pay tribute to guitarist B. B. King who passed away in Las Vegas on Thursday.

His official website said :"Mr. King passed peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 pm Pacific time May 14 2015."

He was 89.

Singer Gladys Knight tweeted: "What a brilliant man you were. One who will forever be noted as such an inspiration to millions globally, RIP #BBKing."

The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr posted: "God bless BB King peace and love to his family Ringo and Barbarax."

Actor Hugh Laurie said: "Oh God. BB King. Let the sad times roll."

Actor Samuel L. Jackson tweeted: "Play a BB King song today & remember him! RIP Mr King & thanks for all the Great Music!!"

Guitarist Richie Sambora said: "My friend and ledgend BB King passed.. I'm so so sad....he was so great to me... We've lost the King..... My love and prayers to his family."

Riley B. King,  who was known by his stage name B.B. King, was born on September 16, 1925.

He is widely regarded as one of the most influential blues guitarists of all time, inspiring countless other electric blues and blues rock guitarists.
