AIB Roast: FIR filed against B-Town celebs

Mumbai/Lucknow, Feb 12 (IBNS): A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against director Karan Johar and actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor for their participation in the controversial 'AIB Roast' show held on January 20.
The complaint has been filed in a Lucknow Police Station by a city-based activist Kailash Chandra Pandey as according to him, the spread of the controversial video, which went viral on social media, has 'vulgar' content and goes 'against Indian culture'.

A case has been filed under section 294 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (for obscene acts or words in public) and section 66 of the IT Act (for sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.) against the three celebrities featured in the show.

In another report, a Girgaon court has directed the Tardeo Police Station in Mumbai to register an FIR against 14 people and others involved in the controversial AIB Roast including Karan Johar,  Ranvir Singh, Arjun Kapoor, actresses Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt, stand up comedians, and venue officials among others.

The order was issued by C.S. Baviskar, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Girgaon Court based on a complaint filed by social activist Santosh Daundkar through Advocate Abha Singh.

Meanwhile, actor Aamir Khan has also went vocal and said the content of AIB Roast was violent.

He has received several criticisms from his B-Town colleagues over his remark and for posting a video on Facebook, where he is seen defending his film Delhi Belly.

In the video, Aamir can be seen saying, "I have already informed my audiences that it is an adult film. Please do not go with your kids and those who have a problem with this kind of language shouldn't come either. I try my best to inform the audiences before-hand. If the audience is adult, they can decide themselves."

Amid controversy for the alleged obscene language and content,  Karan Johar earlier slammed the critics of the show.

The roast featured a panel of eight and ‘Roastmaster’ Karan Johar where Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor shared jokes about their on-screen and off-screen lives. The event was  filmed in a Mumbai stadium with an audience of 4,000.
