Amitabh Bachchan reveals story behind his marriage on this day in 1973. Know what

Mumbai/IBNS: Not just in their films, the Indian audience is always eager to know more about the personal lives of their favourite Bollywood celebrities even leading to multiple speculations about their love affairs, marriage and what not.

However after 47 years of his marriage, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan put to rest many such speculations regarding his tying of nuptial knot with actress Jaya Bachchan (then Jaya Bhaduri).

On this day in 1973, the Bachchan couple got married and on the 47th anniversary on Wednesday, Big B divulged the story behind the marriage.

Taking to Twitter, where the actor is very active, Amitabh Bachchan said he wanted to go to London to celebrate the success of his film 'Zanjeer' with Jaya Bachchan and some other friends but the idea was strongly disposed by Bollywood Shahehshah's father Harivansh Rai Bachchan.

Harivansh Rai Bachchan was strict in his views that if Amitabh Bachchan had to go to London with Jaya Bachchan, the actor will have to get married to his beloved.

But the trip can't be missed so Amitabh Bachchan didn't waste time and got hitched.

Times have changed. Now Bollywood's celebrity couples going on vacations before marriage is not a rare incident.

On the work front, 77-year old Amitabh Bachchan will soon be seen in 'Gulabo Sitabo' which will premiere on OTT platform as the cinema halls are all now closed due to the Covid threat.

The film, which also stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead, is slated for Jun 12 premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
