Anil Kapoor turns 59

Mumbai, Dec 24 (IBNS): Bollywood's Mr. Dependable Anil Kapoor, who is known for experimenting with his roles, turned 59 on Thursday as his daughter Sonam Kapoor took on Twitter to wish him on the special day.

"Missing my father and those times when celebrations would begin with his birthday today and end with mine tomorrow!" Kapoor tweeted on Wednesday.

His daughter Sonam wished him and tweeted: "Happy happy birthday daddy!! I love you too much! "

Kapoor is ruling the industry for over 30 years now and continues to charm the audience with his evergreen looks.

He debuted as a lead actor in the Telugu film 'Vamsa Vruksham'  in 1980.

He won his first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in Yash Chopra's 'Mashaal'  in 1984.

Kapoor  earned his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in N. Chandra's 'Tezaab' in 1988 and later again for his performance in Indra Kumar's 'Beta' in 1992.

He also starred in many other critically and commercially successful films, including 'Woh Saat Din' (1983, the film that first brought him under spotlight), 'Meri Jung' (1985), 'Janbaaz' (1986), 'Karma' (1986), 'Mr. India' (1987) and 'Virasat' (1997) for which he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor.

For his performance in 'Taal' in 1999, he won his second Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

Kapoor bagged the National Film Award in  Best Actor category for his role in 'Pukar' in 2000.

He has also acted in several comedy flicks like 'No Entry' (2005) and 'Welcome' (2007). Recently, Anil appeared in 'Race' (2008) and 'Race 2' (2013).

His talent has not been just confined to the domestic borders as Anil played a crucial role in an international film-Danny Boyle's (2008) Academy Award winning film 'Slumdog Millionaire'. He shared the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for the same..

He has also appeared in the 2011 film 'Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol' for which he received good reviews from critics and audience.

Besides acting, Kapoor had donned the hat of a producer with his critically acclaimed movie 'Gandhi, My Father'.

On his birthday, actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted: "Happy birthday jhakaaaaaaas AK!!! Sorry I missed the party @AnilKapoor but I hope you have a super year! As super as you!!"

Filmmaker Karan Johar wished him and said: "The youngest veteran and a thorough gentleman!!! My first friend in the industry!!!! Love him always!! @AnilKapoor...happy birthday!!!"

Actor Anupam Kher, who has worked with Kapoor in several films, tweeted: "'A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have.' Happy birthday @AnilKapoor. #Inspiration."

Actor Boman Irani said: "Happy birthday to our very own Benjamin Button. Lots to learn from, lots to love. @AnilKapoor."

Remembering his long association with Kapoor, Superstar Shah Rukh Khan posted: "Happy Birthday to @AnilKapoor my first friend in Mumbai & I know will always be there till the last. U will always be ‘42’ for me. Love you."

Actress Bipasha Basu tweeted: "Happy birthday @AnilKapoor ! Stay your ever fit self forever ! And thank you for all those fitness chats ( no entry days)! #loveyourself."
