Arati Mukherjee conferred lifetime achievement honour in Bangla music awards
Kolkata, Feb 11 (IBNS) Singer Arati Mukherjee, who has regaled generations of Bengali music lovers and also left some marks with her Bollywood songs, was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award for her outstanding contribution to Bengali music at the Music Awards Bangla 2015 instituted by a leading FM channel in its fifth edition.
The 'Ei Chhoto Chhoto Paye' singer attributed reaching the pinnacle of her career to what she inherited as a Bengalee, her coming in contact with the singing doyens here since the early age.
While she lent voice to some of the legendary heroines of Bengali cinema, including Suchitra Sen, she is also known nationally for his playback singing in films like Geet Gata Chal (1975), Tapasya (1976), Manokamana and Masoom (1983).
Representing the present generation of singers, Anupam Roy was conferred 'Make it Large award 2015”, for his outstanding contribution to Bengali music since the Autograph days till the big Bollywood debut with Piku in 2015.
Anupam was in his usual reticent self - a man of few words.
The exclusive music awards were one of its kind in the Bengali showbiz industry in the music category across different genres.
In other categories, representing the very best and contemporary in Bengali music scene, Shoojit Sircar production “Open Tee Bioscope” swept all major awards which included best album of the year, song of the year (“Bondhu Chol”).
Mercurial, and dynamic young playback voice of Bollywood and Bengal, Arijit Singh got the male vocalist of the year crown for “Ke Tui Bol”, from the film “Herogiri”, while Indian playback star Shreya Ghoshal became the female vocalist for “Eto Alo” from masala-comedy ”Katmundu”..
In another musical feat for Open Tee Bioscope, directed by Anindya Chatterjee, popular band artiste Upal Sengupta won the award for best music composer while the Chandrabindoo frontman-turned director Anindyo got the Lyricist of the year crown for “Bondhu Chol” from “Open Tee Bioscope” again..
Parambrata Chattopadhyay's third directorial venture Lorai got an honour with its “ Kichhu Kichhu Kotha” having been feted the 'Mirchi listeners’ choice award' for best song while “Parbona Ami Chharte Toke” from the same named film was chosen by the listeners as the best album of the year.

More than 2000 songs released in 2015 were judged by a judges’ panel of 32 luminaries of Bangla music.
"It is not an easy task. But good music is music in whichever genre it belongs to," croon percussionist Pt Tanmoy Bose and instrumentalist Ratul Shankar, two members of the jury.
