Asha Bhosle celebrates her 82nd birthday

Kolkata, Sept 8 (IBNS) Indian playback legend Asha Bhosle on Tuesday turned a year older as she celebrated her 82nd birthday.

Born in the year 1933 in Sangli in Maharashtra to Deenanath, a theatre actor and singer Shevanti Mangeshkar, Asha was the youngest of the five children.

Fans and colleagues poured in their wishes in various social media platforms.

Her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar poster a picture of the two together and wrote on Twitter: “Happy Birthday Asha.”

In another tweet she posted a video and wrote: “Namaskar.Aaj meri choti behen Asha Bhosle ka janamdin hai,usko bahut badhai.Wo deerghayu ho aur hamesha gaati rahe yehi mera aashirwad.”

Asha, who is busy touring the US, replied to the post by writing, “Didi's ashirvad is always with me but this time it's special since I'm far away on tour in USA & her support & guidance is invaluable.”

Other recording studios too poured in their message, wishing the octogenarian a very happy birthday.

Bhosle is the recipient of several awards including the prestigious Padma Vibhusan by the Government of India.

In 2011, Guinness Book of World Records conferred a certificate for the most recorded solo artiste with 11,000 songs across various Indian and foreign languages.
