Asif Basra mistaken for real life 'Peer Baba'

Mumbai, Apr 16 (IBNS) Actor Asif Basra has now added another feather to his cap.
During the shoot of his upcoming movie 'Yeh hai Bakrapur', Asif, who portrays the character of a quirky ‘Peer Baba’, was mistaken to be one in real life by the residents of the village where the movie was being filmed.

Director Janaki Vishwanathan says, “We are blessed to have brilliant actors like Asif Basra in our movie. Asif has done an excellent job with the character, making it look all too real. Villagers would actually gather at the location for his for spiritual guidance.”

It was difficult for them to believe that someone who had played the role with such perfection was actually an actor by profession and not a ‘Peer Baba’.

One lady wanted him to cast a spell for her son to get a job, while another one wanted her daughter to get married. Someone actually asked Asif to cure his long drawn illness. This confusion surely led to comical situations.

The trailer of 'Yeh Hai Bakrapur' and the recently released election anthem, 'Pair Anaadi', have received much appreciation and positive reviews from fans.

The story of the film revolves around the Qureshi family and their pet goat Shahrukh, who acquires rock star status in his village and beyond.

‘Yeh hai Bakrapur' is written and directed by Janaki Vishwanathan, known for her National Award winning film Kutty, in Tamil, and produced by Ramesh Sriivatsava Aruunachalam.

'Yeh hai Bakrapur' is slated to release on May 9.
