Celine Dion's brother passes away

California, Jan 17 (IBNS): Singer Celine Dion on Sunday said her brother Daniel Dion has passed away.

He was 59 when death came.

Daniel Dion died after a long battle with cancer.

"Surrounded by his loving family, Daniel Dion, older brother to Celine and eighth child of Thérèse and Adhémar Dion, passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years old," read a statement issued on Celine Dion's official Facebook page.

"After a long battle with cancer, Daniel leaves to mourn his mother Thérèse Tanguay-Dion; his daughters Valérie (Patrick Goyette) and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne (Valérie); his brothers and sisters Denise (Yvon Dodier), Clément (Denise Dumont), Claudette (Serge Gaudet), Liette (Guy Poirier), Michel (Danièle Corbeil), Louise (Pierre Tremblay), Jacques (Geneviève Garceau), Ghislaine (Jacques Talbot), Linda (Alain Sylvestre), Manon, Paul, Pauline (Marc Martel) and Céline; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends," it said.

Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil passed away recently.
