Mumbai/IBNS: After contributing to PM Cares Fund and funds of various Chief Ministers, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his producer-designer wife Gauri Khan have offered their personal office to Mumbai's municipal corporation for the quarantine purpose stepping up a fight against the deadly Novel Coronavirus.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has put up a tweet informing Khan and his wife have offered their four-storey personal office space for the particular purpose.

A tweet put up by BMC reads, "We thank @iamsrk & @gaurikhan for offering their 4-storey personal office space to help expand our Quarantine capacity equipped with essentials for quarantined children, women & elderly.Indeed a thoughtful & timely gesture!"

A day ago, Khan, who is one of the most richest actors in the world endorsing multiple brands, informed about his contribution to PM Cares Fund (fund created by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for donations to combat COVID-19) as well as to the state governments of Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal.

Khan, a Delhi man, is based in Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, for his film works for past several decades now.

The 55-year old actor is the brand ambassador of the eastern state of West Bengal which is also the home of his Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders.

"Whilst we stay safe at home, many r working for our safety & fending for themselves. Here's our little contribution to ensure their health & well being! Separate but together,we will overcome! @iamsrk @PMOIndia @narendramodi @OfficeofUT @AUThackeray @MamataOfficial @ArvindKejriwal," Khan had tweeted on Thursday.

In a further lengthy statement, Khan informed that his companies - Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX - were contributing to a number of relief funds, including that of PM-Cares fund and other state governments initiated ones.

"Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference. The efforts of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji coupled with the efforts of the chief ministers, Shri Uddhav Thackeray ji, Smt Mamata Banerjee, Shri Arvind Kejriwal and all other states and union territories’ leaders have been commendable in fighting this pandemic," he had stated.

"We have initially focused our efforts on the three cities - Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi - with the realisation that this is a start and we stand ready to contribute in whichever way possible going forward,” he had said in the statement.

He said the only thing that can save the human race form this crisis is 'expression of humanity.'

"At a time when the human race is facing an immense crisis, there can only be one true response: The expression of humanity itself. This is a moment for all of us to come together in a collective effort to make each other kinder, stronger and braver to face the days ahead. This crisis is not going to pass in a hurry, it will take its time and its toll on all of us," he had said.
