Depression is a common yet serious illness: Deepika Padukone tells at WEF
Davos/IBNS: Receiving the Crystal Award 2020 at 50th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, Indian actress Deepika Padukone described depression as a 'common yet serious illness'.
"Depression is a common yet serious illness. It is important to understand that anxiety and depression are like any other illness and treatable. It was experienced with this illness that encouraged me to set up Live Love Laugh," the Indian actress was quoted as saying in the event.

"My love and hate relationship with this has taught me a lot and I want to tell everyone suffering from this that you are not alone," Padukone said.
While receiving the award, she also said: "In the time it has taken me to accept this award, the world has lost one more person to suicide."
Padukone had earlier divulged in a televised show about the phase of depression that she underwent in her life.
The actor, who has already completed more than 10 years in Bollywood and also ventured out in Hollywood, founded an organisation The Live Love Laugh, which is platform to treat all people who undergo mental illness.
