Kolkata, Jun 28 (IBNS): Trailer of musical short film Faagun, directed by Partha Ganguly, was recently launched at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Kolkata, in the presence of dancers Alokananda Roy and Sudarshan Chakravarty, actors Debolina Dutta and Moubani Sorcar, and director Anindya Sarkar.

Faagun is the second venture from city-based music team Vedatronics, who are known for their endeavour to combine classical and contemporary music.

The storyline takes its cue from the Indian festival of colours, Holi, which is usually held in the Bengali month of 'falgun' or 'faagun' in colloquial parlance.

Kolkata-based models, Suvanita Pal and Debarun Swaraj, play the lead roles.

BBC-award winning percussionist and music director Abhishek Basu, a key member of Vedatronics, spoke about the hardships faced while making the musical short film since it is a fairly uncharted territory in India.

Director Partha Ganguly said funding was a problem as most sponsors were not aware of this new genre.

However, their work was appreciated by those present at the launch.

Actor Debolina Dutta said that such independent endeavors deserve encouragement and support from everyone.

Apart from the film's director and lead actors, producer Ankita Mishra Rakshit, associate director Koustubh Dasgupta, director of photography Subhasis Mondal and costume designer Tejas Gandhi were also present.
