hoichoi's Dakghor narrates tale of simple rustic life with love, emotion centred on letters
Kolkata/IBNS: Popular Over-the-top (OTT) platform hoichoi's upcoming web series Dakghor narrates a tale of simple rustic life with love, emotion centred on the letters.
The protagonist postmaster, played by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, comes to a village, named Hagda, with the job and delivers some undelivered letters.
The delivery of the letters creates crises which eventually get solved.
Speaking of his character, Suhotra, who plays Damodar Das, says, "The role of letters in this story is much bigger. Each letter will drive each story leading to crises which will also be solved. My character Damodar will find the purpose of life slowly through his job as postmaster."
Suhotra's co-actor Ditipriya Roy says she was attracted to the "uniqueness" of the series, which is directed by Abhrajit Sen.
"These types of stories are very rare. There is a uniqueness in the series, which is a bit different from the kind of works I have been part of in the last few years. This is a very simple story of rural people. There is a simplicity in this story," Ditipriya said.
Actor-comedian-politician Kanchan Mullick, who plays a significant role, told IBNS about the kind of humour used in this series.
"The conventional form of comedy is not present in this film. There is no imposed comedy in this web series. Laughter is evoked through the rural characters in this series very spontaneously," he said.
"Dakghar celebrates the beauty of simplicity," said director Sen.
The series is written by Padmanabha Dasgupta.
Dakghor will start streaming on hoichoi on Feb 24.
