Kolkata has the kind of audience that I die to perform for: Shamali Kolgade

Kolkata, Dec 26 (IBNS) : Shamali Kolgade, Bollywood playback singer known for her hit numbers like “Baby ko bass pasand hai,” “Balam pichkari” and “Lat lag gaye" said she loves performing in Kolkata for its hugely responsive audience.

At the MTV Bollyland 2016 Kolkata, India’s biggest dance music festival, she said: “Kolkata has the audience that every singer craves to perform for."

While addressing the media Shalmali said, “Kolkata audience is the kind every performer looks forward to. I have seen audiences across India and abroad. I cross my heart, there is no audience I have witnessed like the one in Kolkata!! The audience here are the ones who listen to you and love you even years after your song have hit the charts.”

It is Shamali’s first musical venture with MTV Bollyland.

When asked about why she wanted to be a part of MTV Bollyland 2016, Kolgade said, “Bollyland has set a platform for electronic dance music as well as other genres of rock and pop music. The kind of vibe and feel that these categories of music demand for is very close to my style of singing. That’s pretty much reason I always wanted to be a part of it.”

Shalmali, being a playback singer says performing in front of “live audience” gives her a musical high compared to singing in a confined studio.

“Recording in studio is the closest way to get in touch with yourself but it is nothing like the live audience that you get to interact with in a stage performance,” Said the singing diva, who has been a former judge in Indian Idol Junior and will be seen in the judging panel of an upcoming Indian Singing talent show, Dil Hai Hindustani.

Inspired by western music, she is all set to release her own solo music video “Ayea” in Jan 2017.

The event was also attended by popular artists Neha Kakkar, Sukh E, DJ Anshul and DJ Kiran Kamath.

The audience witnessed live performance at PC Chandra garden on Dec 18 by leading Bollywood playback singers and popular DJs of India.

MTV Bollyland 2016 is set to kick start from Kolkata to seven other cities that includes Delhi, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Jaipur, Pune, Indore and Guwhati.

The concert will continue for 4 months starting from Dec  to March 2017.
