Mumbai, Aug 4 (IBNS): Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar on Friday remembered late Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar on his 88th birth anniversary and said she still feels his absence.

"Namaskar.Kishore Da ki aaj jayanti hai.wo jitne acche gayak the utne hi acche insaan the.Mujhe Kishore Da ki kami hamesha mehsoos hoti hai (Namaskar. Today is the birth anniversaryof Kishore da. He was equally a good human being and a singer. I still feel his absence.)," tweeted Lata Mageshkar.

She also shared an image with the late singer on her Twitter page for fans.

She also shared a link to the first song — “Yeh kaun aaya re” — they sang together in 1948.

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan also remembered Kishore Kumar and tweeted: "4th Aug, Kishore Kumar's Birth Annv, Prod, Dir, Actor, Singer Music Dir; sang for me 51 films, 130+ songs, and 60 films I acted in."

Singer Vishal Dadlani said :"It's the legendary #KishoreKumar 's birthday. The Voice. Forever."

Actor Riteish Deshmukh remembered the singer and said: "Magic of his voice will resonate in every heart beat for generations to come ओ मेरे दिल के चैन,चैन आए मेरे दिल को दुआ कीजिए #HBDKishoreKumar."

Kishore Kumar, a fan of playback singer K L Saigal, started out as a chorus singer at Bombay Talkies. He had no formal training in music and was rather reluctant.

It is said that music director S D Burman heard Kishore imitating Saigal and advised him to develop his own unique style rather than follow someone.

That led to the famous yodeling, a trademark of Kumar’s.

Though he started out as a singer, Kumar acted, wrote lyrics, composed music at times, produced some of the movies, wrote the screen play and the script at times.

His illustrious singing career saw him sing in different regional languages which include his native Bengali, Hindi, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Bhojpuri, Malayalam, Odia and Urdu.

Some of his works includes ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’, ‘Half Ticket’, ‘Musafir’, ‘Padosan’. ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi’ had all the three Kumar
brothers working in it.

He later produced and directed a movie ‘Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein’ in which his first born Amit Kumar played his son.

He play-backed for some of the biggest names in Bollywood which include actors Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Dharmendra to name a few.
