National Film Awards : Akshay Kumar best actor, Neerja best Hindi film

New Delhi, Apr 7 (IBNS) : Akshay Kumar was adjudged the best actor and Sonam Kapoor-starrer Neerja named the best Hindi film of 2016 as the 64th National Film Awards were announced on Friday, reports said.

urabhi Lakshmi was declared the best actress for her performance in Malayalam movie Minnaminungu.

According to reports, Akshay Kumar bagged the best Actor award for his act in 'Rustom'.

Sonam Kapoor also got a Special Mention for her performance in 'Neerja'.

Over 300 films vied for the honours this year. The process to choose the best from Indian cinema began in mid-March. Filmmaker Priyadarshan was the chairperson of the jury in feature films category, while nationally acclaimed cinematographer and writer Raju Misra was the chairperson in non-feature category.
