Shah Rukh Khan to receive award for leadership in children's and women's rights

New Delhi, Jan 11 (IBNS): The World Economic Forum will honour Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for his leadership in championing children's and women's rights in India on Jan 22.

The forum will organise the awards ceremony on Jan 22 to honour the actor.

The award is to celebrate the  achievements of outstanding artists who have shown exemplary commitment to improving the state of the world.

Thanking for the honour, the Bollywood actor tweeted: "Thank u for this honour. I consider my work with these heroic & beautiful women a great privilege as it imparts dignity & purpose to my life. I hope to spread awareness of the unparalleled heroism of these ladies & reach out to others in order to carry this work to its conclusion."

Along with Shah Rukh, Australian actress Cate Blanchett and English musician Elton John will also be honoured.

While Blanchett will be honoured for raising awareness of refugee crisis, John will be honoured for his leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
