Kolkata/IBNS: The trailer of Srijit Mukherji's upcoming Bengali film Padatik, a biopic on maestro Mrinal Sen, was unveiled on Sunday.

The 2:58-minute trailer teases the audience with Mrinal Sen's journey as a filmmaker, his struggles and indomitable spirit of documenting the reality through his works.

Popular Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury essays the titutal role while Monami Ghosh plays Mrinal Sen's wife Geeta Sen in the film, which is a birth centenary homage to the legend.

The title of the biopic is same as that of Sen's 1973 film, which is considered as the third installment of the Calcutta Trilogy by the filmmaker, starring Dhritiman Chatterjee, Simi Garewal and Bijon Bhattacharya in the lead.

The film is produced by Friends Communication.

Padatik will hit the big screens on August 15.
