Srinagar/IBNS: The two-day International Film Festival of Srinagar (TIFFS) concluded at Tagore Hall on Sunday, leaving both the audience and artists delighted by its resounding success.

During the event's closing ceremonies, a prestigious prize presentation ceremony took place, honoring prominent artists for their exceptional contributions, reports Deccan Herald.

Vomedh, a Jammu-based theatre and cultural group that organized the festival, bestowed the awards upon these accomplished individuals.

Rakesh Bhat, co-director of the festival, expressed his gratitude towards the artistic community, sponsors, and the public for their unwavering support that ensured the event's triumph.

"We recognized the need to establish an international film festival that is uniquely intertwined with the essence of Srinagar," Bhat commented.

Drawing from their past experience with the Jammu film festival, he emphasized their determination to elevate TIFFS into a renowned international event in the times ahead.

Bhat further elaborated, "Beyond its name, it's the historical significance, contributions, and spirit that Srinagar has contributed to the world of cinema that drove us to create an international film festival synonymous with the city's identity."

Speaking during the inaugural function, Pandurang Kondbarao Pole, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, urged filmmakers to perceive Kashmir beyond the narrow lens of terrorism. He underscored the region's artistic prowess and emphasized that platforms like film festivals are pivotal in nurturing local talent, enabling Kashmiri artists to explore their full potential.

The TIFFS event marked a significant step forward in celebrating the artistic heritage of Srinagar, while also providing a promising platform for filmmakers and artists to transcend conventional narratives and delve into the multifaceted aspects of Kashmir.
