Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): SVF, Eastern India’s largest movie production house today raised the curtain on SVF Stories - one of the biggest entertainment events Bengal has witnessed.

At a glittering ceremony held in the city, Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni, co-founders of SVF made an ambitious declaration of producing 25 big ticket films over a period of next 3 years (until 2020), allocating Rs. 100 crores for the same – a figure unheard of in Tollywood so far.

SVF Stories aims at becoming an annual gathering bringing the notable personalities from the industry under one roof announcing the upcoming film projects of the production house.

As part of the 25 films, Arindam Sil is set to entertain the audience with two of his detective films Asche Abar Shabor and Byomkesh Gotro while Sandip Ray will be back with his Feluda and Professor Shonku O El Dorado.

The list includes some notable projects from the National Award winning Directors Srijit Mukherjee and Aparna Sen. While Srijit is coming up with Uma, Kakababur Protyabarton and Ek Je Chhilo Raja, Aparna Sen will be adapting the classic novel by Rabindranath Tagore – Ghare Baire, titled Ghare o Baire.

The good news for the fans of Raj Chakraborty, he will be directing two of his most ambitious projects- Siraj Ud Daulah and Tong Ling and on the other hand Anjan Dutt will enthrall the audiences with Finally Bhalobasha and Ami Asbo Phire.

The journey over the next three years will also see SVF’s first film with the brilliant filmmaker Mainak Bhowmik titled Generation Aami – a ‘coming of age’ story. Birsa Dasgupta will return with a bang with Crisscross - based on Smaran-jit Chakraborty's best seller novel as well as Bibhaho Obhijaan- an emotional saga. And Debaloy Bhattacharya will be directing his next with a new take on Byomkesh: titled Bidaay Byomkesh.

Following the massive success of Amazon Obhijaan across India as well as internationally, SVF is all set to bring the third part in the Dev starrer Shankar franchise to be directed bythe doctor turned director Kamaleswar Mukherjee.

SVF co-founder & Director, Shrikant Mohta, said “At SVF, we have always tried to do our bit to raise the bar for Bengali cinema. Our commitment of Rs. 100 crores for producing 25 films over next 3 years will not only aim at taking Tollywood to the next level but also serve as a platform to harness fresh young talent in the industry. In fact, with the super success of Amazon Obhijaan, we are excited and motivated to make the third part in the franchise even bigger.”

Mahendra Soni, SVF co-founder & Director, said “We are coming up with movies with diverse genre and themes for old and young alike. The next three years will also see many firsts – we will be expanding into Bangladesh with the release of the first film starring the Bangladeshi superstar Shakib Khan; Siraj-Ud-Daulah will be the first ever war film of Bengal; will also have debut of new talents; there is plenty in store for the audience to look forward to”
